Hero Arts Color Layering Autumns Trees

Autumn Blessings
Hero Arts Card Tutorial

Thank you for stopping by. I am pleased to be showing you a quick tutorial with a stamp set from one of my most favorite stamping companies and one that I will be using a lot coming up!

My natural tendencies in making cards is clean and simple. Hero Arts products are a goldmine when it comes to providing the best products for this technique! That's why they have quickly become a 'must have' in my collection!

For today's card, I wanted to focus on the many beautiful colors all around us. It is fall so you know what that means......Autumn/Fall cards. Let's look at this wonderful card that I made with Hero Arts CM 191 Color Layering Autumns Trees. This set is so much fun because it is so versatile!

The supplies I used for this card project are:

  • CM191 Color Layering Autumn Trees
  • Sunshine Mix Layering Papers
  • Hero Arts Ombre Ink
  • Inks from the Autumn mix: Red Royal, Just Rust, Cocoa and Tangelo
Step 1:
  • Take the darkest color cardstock in the Sunshine Mix and make an A2 card base.

Step 2:
  • Mount the tree trunk stamp on to a stamping block.
  • Apply Cocoa ink to the stamp.
  • Apply stamp to cardstock.

Step 3:
  • There are three different stamps with different variations of leaves. One has a large amount of leaves, one has a moderate amount and the last has the least amount of leaves. For step 3, we are going to use the stamp with the largest amount of leaves.
  • Mount the stamp on to a stamping block.
  • Apply Ombre ink to the stamp either vertically or horizontally based on the three ink pad strips contained in the ink pad.
  • Apply stamp to cardstock.

Step 4:
  • For step 4, we are going to use the stamp with the moderate amount of leaves.
  • Mount the stamp on to a stamping block.
  • Apply Red Royal ink to the stamp.
  • Apply stamp to cardstock on top of the first stamped leaves image to create an added second dimension of colored leaves.

Step 5:
  • For step 5, we are going to use the stamp with the least amount of leaves.
  • Mount the stamp on to a stamping block.
  • Apply Just Rust and Tangerine ink to the stamp.
  • Apply stamp to cardstock on top of the second stamped leaves image to create an added third dimension of colored leaves.

Step 6:
  • Mount the "Autumn Blessings" stamp on to a stamping block.
  • Apply Red Royal ink to the stamp.
  • Cut out a small strip of cardstock slightly larger in width than the cardstock used for the image for the focal image and approximately 1/2 inch in height.
  • Apply stamp to the center of the small strip of cardstock.

Step 7:
  • Cut out a piece of cardstock that is a shade lighter than the base. This layer can be as wide as you like on all sides as long as it makes a proportionate layer and displays the color of the cardstock.
  • Adhere the focal image to the colored layered cardstock. I am using the new Glue Dots adhesive tape runner.
  • Adhere the small strip containing the sentiment on bottom of the focal image cardstock that is proportionate on both sides (left and right side).

Step 8:
  • Using the iCraft 3D Foam Squares by Therm O Web, adhere the layered cardstock to the card base.

Now you are done!
